"Searching a Specific Blog"

| No TrackBacks

Posted by John Heckman: "Jim Calloway recently posted a great tip for searching for older material in a blog. While many blogs have their own search engine, some of them are better than others. But there is another way, which may (or may not) return better results than the built-in blog search.

Just go to Google and type the search term you want, followed by site:http://doesitcompute.typepad.com (without the "www"). The "site" command restricts the search to the indicated site.

Note that this does not always go exactly to a post containing the word. It also goes to items where the word appears somewhere on the page, in recent items, or at the top of a page with a permalink. But it does seem to get all the instances of the term."
