This post was written by Kim Walker: "In my office, in plain sight (so lawyers can see it) I have a graduated wire folder holder.  I really can't think of any other way to describe it.  It has multicolored file folders each with the name of a case I am handling in big huge lettering.  Inside the folder is everything my supervising attorney would need to know about the case, should I get hit by a bus, hit the lottery or get a marriage proposal from Johnny Depp..."

This post was written by Cathy Ribble: "When I decided to start my own independent business to provide virtual paralegal services to licensed U.S. attorneys, one of the things which excited me most was the realization that as my own boss, I would control which tools I use to provide professional services in my area of expertise.

 

I have experienced firsthand that law firms often try to save money by using outdated software or cutting corners by failing to adequately train staff with the software programs the firm has chosen. That lack of training lands closer to the bulls-eye when attorneys themselves begin using desktop and laptop computers without investing some dedicated time for proper training.  This mindset actually robs attorneys and their law firms of hard-earned profits rather than saving them money. Here is an example...

This post was written by Kim Walker: "We have all run into the "Attorney Who Cried Rush" at some point in time.  There are many ways to handle this creature, some will work out well for you and some will not.  Keep in mind that the longer you work for a particular attorney and the more you deliver the goods on time, the less the attorney will cry rush.  Most of the time crying rush is simply the attorney's insecurity that 1) they will not have what he needs to be prepared or 2) you will not deliver quality work in time, compromising their reputation.
